Catalonia's parliament approved the People's Legislative Initiative (ILP) to ban bullfighting in that region. The proposal has gone ahead with 68 votes in favor, 55 against and 9 abstentions.

The ILP, submitted Prou the platform! with the support of 180,000 signatures, was declared admissible in December last. Since then, the debate moved to the Parliament, with arguments for and against the veto, and the Monumental de Barcelona itself, this same Sunday.
Until now, the intention to veto the bullfights in Catalonia had not gone beyond symbolic gestures such as the Barcelona declaration in 2004 of bullfighting city.
